I got to ministry in Zimbabwe three nights ago. I left Nepal five days ago. I left ministry in Nepal seven days ago. Yes, I realize I did not blog at all in Nepal. But I’m also human, and humans are not perfect and we make mistakes a lot of the time. But here I am writing a blog about my time in Nepal, late as it may be. Let’s get on with it already, shall we?
I feel like our month in Nepal flew by in a whirl wind and now that I’m in Africa I sometimes wonder if it ever even happened.
We started the month off with debrief where our whole squad and leadership team met up for a week in Kathmandu of check-ins and one-on-ones, squad worship and devos, and relaxing after our first month on the field. It was a really sweet time, having collective worship over the flickering lights of Kathmandu and discovering cute little cafes that serve the best porridge and fruits.
While we didn’t have a set “ministry” at debrief, it was really cool to see my squad seek that out and find ways to encourage and lift people up none the less. One major way that I saw my squad and I minister to people while at debrief was at the hostel we were staying at. I saw us building relationships with the other backpackers staying at the hostel and showing them what it was like to live with a God who forgave all of our sins and helped us to live with a different set of standards than the backpacker culture entails (a lot of very worldly things). Some friends we made during debrief were at the hostel when we came back at the end of the month for a few days and we got to spend more time pouring into them and building relationship with them.
At the end of the week, I said goodbye to most of my squad mates and headed off to ministry for the next three weeks. Unfortunately for you all, you shall have to wait for my next blog to hear about ministry last month.
Until next time,
Victoria
