Ten thousand five hundred and forty five tangible signs of God’s faithfulness.
Author Ann Voskamp, wrote a book called, One Thousand Gifts. In it she talks about the practice of thanksgiving, the power found in uttering “thank you” to the One who gives gift upon gift upon gift. Gifts big and gifts small. Obvious gifts, and subtle gifts. Simple gifts, and complicated gifts. Ann brings attention to how Jesus himself was a man of thanksgiving. On the night He was betrayed, knowing all that was ahead, Jesus sat down to supper with His disciples. He sat down, and He broke bread, and He gave thanks.
Ann says it so well, “Thanksgiving precedes the miracle.”
I give thanks for how far Abba has brought us in this fundraising process, and I give thanks for the miracle unfolding here. But I also give thanks for what Abba will do. I give thanks for the money that has come and will come; for the generous hearts that have joined and will join this story in the days ahead. I give thanks for this promise that has already been fulfilled, even though I don’t see it in it’s entirety just yet.
