I just read Surprise Me! A 30-Day Faith Experiment by Terry Esau. Basically, that is the author’s daily prayer for a month: “God, surprise me!” The book is his journal, recounting how he looked for and found our Father’s hand in the simple and sometimes great things of life.
Consider this illustration from the book:
Imagine that we are hot-air balloons, and prayer is the hot air.
What if the sky is where all the surprises hang out?
… When we stop praying, our lives get deflated.
… We lose shape; we lose perspective; we lose the thrill of flying; we lose proximity to the sky-full of surprises.
Wouldn’t you like to take a hot-air balloon ride right about now?!
Get up there and receive all the surprises and gifts that He has for you today!
