I chatted with our ministry contacts in India this week, and I am so excited about what God has planned for us!  Our team will spend most of our days working with children at Sarah’s Covenant Homes.

Sarah’s Covenant Homes opened in January 2008 as part
of an indigenous non-profit Christian NGO (Non-Government Organization) called
India Christian Ministries.

The Lord told Sarah, “Feed My lambs.â€  So she finds
overlooked and undernourished (in all senses) children languishing in
institutional orphanages or hospitals, and brings them home, providing them
with love, education, therapy, medical & surgical care, and life in a
family-style environment
.

There are currently 83 children in Sarah’s
Covenant Homes
, and the vast majority of them have neurological special needs:
epilepsy, cerebral palsy, hemiplegia, cognitive challenges, hydrocephalus,
brain damage, autism etc. or combinations of the above. Many also have
orthopedic challenges.

Sarah writes, I would
love to open people’s eyes to the worth of these children. Their brains and
bodies may not work as well as ours, but their spirits are just as alive as
ours. They have feelings and personalities, and they have much to give to the
world and to any family…  I hope we help people to see how precious they are.

The pictures here are just a few that I borrowed from
Sarah’s Covenant Homes ‘s website.  I
encourage you to go read more about them and this ministry.  I am really looking forward to meeting and
spending time with the children myself!
