The school where I work graciously allowed me to do some fundraising activities this month, and I am pleased to announce that this community has already given me about $1,000!
In addition to snack sales, I organized a Game Show and a mini-World Race event, and I hope to offer a few more fun activities in the next couple of weeks.
MANY people helped to make these activities a success, but I want to give a special shout-out to:
* Mandy & Paul, who generated middle school appropriate trivia with me
* Steve, the host with the most – powder blue suit, corny jokes, and all
* Larry, Patti and their grown-up kids, who volunteered hours of their time to supervise
* Leslie, the concessions-selling queen
I initially felt – and still sometimes feel – very hesitant about asking people for anything – especially money, but I realize that it is about so much more than that. I am inviting them – you! – to partner with me in this ministry!
God is glorified in each time I talk to people about Him. Since I announced my decision to go on the World Race, my students and colleagues seem genuinely interested in what I will be doing, and I am eager to tell them stories about how God is working around the world! (read current participant blogs) I am also very excited about how God is working in my life too and about the intimate relationship He desires to have with each one of us.
As you may know, I need to raise a total of $13,800 in order to participate in the World Race. This money pays for my travel (we’re going around the world, you know), accommodation (we’ll be camping out a lot of the time!), and ministry expenses.
