In the morning, I read 2 Peter 2, which warns against people who make promises they can’t keep, people who think that they are free but are actually slaves.  Later that same day (this was a couple of weeks ago), I visited the Museum of Communism in Prague.
Busted!

While potentially good in theory, communism has not worked well in practice.  Or so it seems to me, especially now that I have visited a few former communist countries.  It’s a system that is all about CONTROL.  Citizens are well rewarded for reporting suspicious activity and harshly punished for not reporting and for “committing” crimes themselves.

Christianity, on the other hand, is all about FREEDOM.
And all about GRACE.

You were called to be free.
But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature.
Rather, serve one another in love.
(Galatians 5:13)

Where sin increased, grace increased all the more.
(Romans 5:20)

There is so much to say about this, but believe it or not, I’m not even going to try to go there today!
I’ll just let you take a moment to meditate on this truth:
God is faithful to keep all of His promises
– even if His ways and His timing are not exactly what we want or expect.

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ.

(2 Corinthians 1:20)

Now take a moment and reflect on those promises…

What has God promised you?

Search His Word for promises that He has made to mankind.
And listen to His Spirit for specific promises that He has made or is making to YOU personally!

I guarantee that you will find true freedom in His promise of grace!
