It is oureleventh and final month of the Race, and
we are in Nicaragua.
My Team Banah, once again with Team Clay, is working on the island of Ometepe with
CICRIN: Centro Infantil Cristiano
Nicaraguense (Nicaraguan Christian Children’s Center). The purpose of CICRIN is to provide a
safe environment and a good education for children who
have been orphaned, abandoned, or who are otherwise in danger in their homes.
There
are just over 20 children and youth living at the Centro currently, and they
are precious! Four year old Julietta and
I quickly became friends. One afternoon she fell asleep with
me on the hammock. Normally, she is full of energy: she loves to dance and play! Eleven year old Darell showed me the proper
technique to use when hand washing my clothes. And twenty-one year old Elsa-Maria loves to chat and braid hair.

CICRIN accepts financial support for each of
the children and for various projects on site.
Our primary
ministry here, however, is not at the Centro, but at the local church. While the children are at school during the
day, we go in to the village to do construction. We are working to build a feeding center
next to the church. (Currently, the
program is run out of Pastor Miguel’s home.)

Please PRAY …
– for the protection of these
children at the Centro and for government decisions that may affect them.
– for our squad’s health.

well. Traveling the world, living in community, and serving in ministry is
thrilling but exhausting, and we can only do it by relying on the strength of
the Lord. We have officially begun reflecting on our experiences and preparing to come home soon, and that, too, is exciting but tough.
