Have you ever been nudged by God?
You know, felt like you should do or say something?

That’s usually how I “hear” God speak to me. And that’s all well and good.
But I believe that He’s saying a lot more, and it’s time for me to listen up!

At Ignition Training Camp earlier this month, we practiced intentional Listening Prayer as newly-formed teams. After each person had taken some quiet time, we reconvened as teams to share what we had heard or seen. Then we left camp to respond to God’s call to ministry.

Now, we acknowledge that not all words, visions, and promptings come from God. There are a lot of things going on in our minds all the time, so that “vision” of a hotdog might just be your stomach growling. But other seemingly random ideas – like “a red umbrella” – might actually be a sign from the Supernatural.

We agreed not to doubt or discard any images for the time being. But, in general with Listening Prayer, it’s important to check that the messages concur with Scripture and are glorifying to God, and they will usually also be confirmed by another source.

My teammates shared visions of Wal-Mart, a white truck, and a broken-down car.  What do you think we saw as we pulled into the parking lot twenty minutes later? Yup: a man checking the engine under the hood of his car. We offered to help him then parked to determine the next steps of our plan. Melissa and I decided to walk around the parking lot while the others went inside. In the course of an hour, we met several people and prayed with a couple of them. We passed several white trucks, and – I’m not exaggerating – all of them had uplifting Christian bumper stickers. It wasn’t a particularly phenomenal experience, but it was exciting to “till the soil” as Melissa says, and start to see people and events as God sees them

Team Karis tried to bless the waitress they’d met the night before. They followed visions to get directions to her house and had meaningful conversations with people along the way. This isn’t the Christian form of stalking! It’s being the blessing.

Three people in Team Transformers received these images respectively:
a school, a fair on a street, Fair Street Elementary School
Amazingly enough, there was a school by that name in the town, so the team prayer walked around it, chatted with some teachers, and played with some kids.

Team Libre received images of a hospital and an old lady. They went to the local hospital, identified their lady, and prayed with her.

Now, you might be thinking, “Yeah, of course there are old ladies at the hospital.”
True.
And they are desperate for love and prayers,
so why wouldn’t God want to use us to minister to them?!

If you know that there are old ladies at the hospital needing prayer,
what is stopping you from going there and praying for them?!

The real question is:

How often have you intentionally made yourself available to God?

Ask God for something to do and then do it!
Everyone benefits from that kind of love!

The key to having what I’m calling Angel Eyes is simply
being intentional and taking the opportunity to minister to anyone, anywhere, anytime
