I grew up in a Christian home, and I consider myself beyond blessed because of my family and support system. Although I wasn’t sure what God had planned for me, I learned to follow His lead more and more leading up to 2012. I always looked to other people for my future – what should I go to school for? Where should I work? Where can I get the best job so I can have the most money? But I’ve learned quickly, that is not what is most important.

In 2012, I went on an Adventures in Missions Passport trip to Thailand, where my team and I did bar ministry. During those two months, I thought I know knew exactly what God had planned for me – I was going to do ministry in Thailand, because my world completely changed drastically in those short two months and I was in love – in love with God’s presence, in love with the people, and I thought I knew who I was.

I heard about the World Race when I was in Thailand, but always thought that it wasn’t for me. When I got home from Thailand, I had one thing on my mind – how can I get to Thailand the fastest? No matter how many times God brought the World Race to my mind, I always said no. I already know what You have planned God. I don’t need that detour.

I was just seven months from graduating with my Bachelor’s Degree, and I finally decided to stop running from God, and I applied to the race. There had been confirmations, yet I was still running from Him. It was a fast process – I applied, had an interview, got a phonecall that I was accepted, then a few days later I got another phonetical thanking me for my deposit which meant that I was committed (an exciting sidenote: my initial deposit was leftover money that wasn’t used during my 2012 Passport trip or any for AIM after! God had it waiting for me because I wasn’t sure where the deposit was going to come from!)

I graduated at the end of 11/2014 and left for the race on 12/31/2014! It has been an adventure, but I wouldn’t change a thing! 🙂 Thankful for all that God has been doing in my life, as well in my family’s as we are trusting Him in supporting my trip! As my friend said, “Your will, Your bill God!”
