I’m not sure where to begin when talking about Cambodia. God has been so so good already – from the Children’s Home we are staying at to each person we get to talk to or even just smile and say hello to, to our new Vietnam team member, Huong!

Brief overview, we are working with Evangelical Missions Organization for Development and staying at their Children’s Home. During this first week, we have been able to visit the Wings Home, which are high school students, and EMOD, where we get to teach English. I have been getting Khmer (Kim-I) (Cambodia’s language) lessons throughout the day, as well. The people love teaching my team and I, even when we struggle. 🙂

Overview: Before the race I thought my heart was only in Thailand and the United States, because of the people I have met in each place. I thought I knew where my heart belonged.

HA, who was I kidding?

I have pieces of my heart in Phuket, Thailand from my 2012 missions’ trip, Chiang Mai, Thailand because of last month, and now Kampong Thom, Cambodia. And now I feel confident that after the race, my heart will be in Vietnam, China, Swaziland, Lesotho, South Africa, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico, another place in the United States because of our last month of missions, AND where each of my WRF squad mates live – they are my brothers and sisters, I have gained so much family this year and I couldn’t be happier.

During training camp, we were given a Racers’ Prayer, and the second line of that states, “I want to touch the poor, Break my heart with the things that break Yours.” I have always been praying for God to show me what breaks His heart, and to give me His eyes so I can see how He sees. And that is just what He is doing.

During my first few days in Cambodia, God told me, “I am breaking your heart for what breaks Mine. My heart is for each person around the world, your heart can be too. I have made you to love people and will show you to have your heart everywhere, while still being in the moment. Your heart can hold so much love, trust Me. I will teach you to love, cry, miss, pray, and laugh with people all over the world. Like your teammate said, ‘you don’t need to know every language, you love through your beauty – your beauty in Christ – you wear Jesus on your skin everyday, all day.’ People are drawn to you; because of Me. Language is just a plus. 🙂 Keep loving My daughter, you showing people you want to learn is showing them you care about them and you want to learn from them.”

I am learning that when God pours into my life, I am able to pour into other people’s lives – whether they are a team member or one of my new friends in Cambodia. It’s such a beautiful thing to see my team and I pour our love out, and showing Jesus through our actions.
