In two short minutes, you can get an inside look at what we’ve been doing in Bulgaria this month. Check out my “day in the life” video, Bulgaria edition.

We’ve been spending our time hanging out with Ivan, visiting nursing homes, doing outreach in a local gypsy village and helping out around the church with cleaning and gardening.

A few interesting happenings from this month:

  1. Yes means no and no means yes. Our universal sign for yes – nodding head up and down – actually means no in Bulgaria.  Our universal sign for no – nodding head side to side – actually means yes.  It has made for some very confusing trips to the market. Hello, miscommunication city.
  2. Sometimes ministry looks like waking up at 4:00 AM to go fishing with your pastor.
  3. We’re never really sure what we order or what we’re eating at restaurants.  We can’t read menus here and often have to point and guess. Pretty sure the mystery meat during Sunday’s lunch was some type of tongue, we’re still not sure.
  4. Weird things I’ve eaten this month: Snails, lamb & tripe (calf stomach).

As always, thanks for taking time to check out my blog. You are appreciated.
With love,
Victoria

PS: Currently, we are en route to Thessaloniki, Greece. It blows my mind that we are already on our way to country number seven. I have a feeling these next four months are going to fly by.
