So I did not realise it had been a month. Ooops.
Sorry about that, I have been living life pretty fully since then. It is not that God hasn’t taught me anything it has just been full. I have been working some on fundraising and I was very blessed by those who donated money for supplies at the Chicago layover and also the few people who donated from my silly video post. I am 70% funded and I believe God will continue to show up.
I have also been to a training called Awakening in India and have been working daily with the kids at an amazing children’s home. So here are some things I have learned in India.
1. The culture does not use please and it throws me off all the time i catch myself wanting to scold kids then remember.
2. The head bobble is a perfected art and I am not good at it or at reading it. There is a subtle difference between yes and no and okay.
3. My team is on its last week together. I will not get to celebrate my birthday with the daisies 🙁 but I know Nepal is going to be amazing.
4. Sacrifice is a cost. But to sacrifice for God is worth it all. The family that runs the home and these children are constant reminders of how beautiful it truly is, as they serve and love on us and one another.
5. I miss ministry. Ministry is life and life is ministry is good and I love living that but I have truly missed working in a Sunday school, VBS setting. We ran VBS here for 30 kids ages 4-19 and it was AMAZING!
6. I was sweetly reminded about how gracious our God is as I have been sharing testimonies and also getting to hear the stories of these sweet sweet kids.
7. I am counting ALL of my blessings as I share photos from home and talk about my job and college degree and car as well as my family and the home I grew up in.
8. Cows do just randomly cross the road even I the heart of the city. They stop traffic and it is truly unique.
9.Temples are beautiful and ornate and I am learning about Hinduism. There are big churches here as well. God is moving. We got to go or a mega church in our city and it was God centered and so sweet.
10.INDIA IS HOT! The food is hot the weather is hot the clothing makes you hot the Chai tea is defiantly hot. The smells are even sometimes hot. But, I love it, maybe everything except the cobras that live in the rocks between our apartment and the stray dogs that sometimes try and get us to pat them. But I do love it. I might love these kids more then I love the country but it is beautiful here. Their culture has been so fun to get to know and they are very gracious. I even have been blessed to have a family who lets me use my left hand. I tried so hard at training but it does take me almost double the time to try and eat with my right hand. I used a squatty potty again and even that wasn’t too bad. Also spicy wise our host has been the perfect balance of culture and kindness. Her food is delicious and does not set my mouth on fire at every meal. It is hard to think about leaving in a few short days. Time here has flown by as working with children often seems to make it do, but I have loved every second of it.
Did I mention they call us Aunty…. I LOVE IT!
~Please keep my final fundraising goal in your prayers. I need 5,414 more dollars to be fully funded and it is past the final deadline. I know God will continue to move and I am so grateful for all those who have donated already. If you know of someone who might be willing to partner with me please feel free to pass along my blog information or if you can send me their email and I would love to reach out to them and share more. Almost daily I have moments where I pause and cannot believe this is my life.
Take care! May God bless you! Thanks for caring about my journey! So much love from India!
