Dear self,
Please remember how you feel right now. Halfway through the race. You have changed even if you might not see it. As you enter America remember these truths.
1.Learning the personal value of 1 dollar is important and remember how it feels knowing 1USD is worth so much in other countries. Spend your money like your time responsibly. Always remember it is a tool not an idol. It serves a purpose and it does not need to control your life.
2. Speaking of time, embrace the people you love for at least the first week you are back. Give yourself permission to be present with the ones that you miss so much right now. Hug them ALL.
3.Stay present and downsize all your crap. Get rid of everything that clutters your life and steals your joy. Do the hard work to be free.
4. Don’t put God back in your safe little box. Falling back into old habits and letting lies creep in and crush your dreams.
5. Give God you whole heart. Not just the things that feel safe. Thinking of going hone is scarry but God is going with you. Life after the race is going to be good.
6. Being an adult and taking care of your debt does not have to crush your soul. There are lots of ways to pay things off. Seek God and His will for this next stage, He has the best plan.
7.Stay in community with people. Reach out to other teammates and friends at home, do not let Satan isolate you.
8. When you are cold in your beautiful home remember how much you missed it in Haiti and DR and Jamaica and even India when it snowed until May. Go outside and make a snow angel and thank God that you live in one of the best places on earth and appreciate it even when you have to shovel a few feet of it to get out of the driveway.
9. Don’t be afraid of being too much. Share your memories and talk about what God has done. Let people in.
10. Be present in every moment of every day. Don’t let a single day pass unintentionally. The end of the race is not the end of the Adventure. Keep dreaming with Jesus.
Love,
5 and a half month self.
Ps. Go watch the sunrise over the ocean.
