Dear friends and family,
Starting in September I will be participating in Adventure in Missions’ “World Race” which is an 11 month long mission trip to 11 different countries. My team will be going to the following countries: Haiti, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Adventures in Missions describes the World Race as “a challenge adventure for young adults to abandon worldly possessions and a traditional lifestyle in exchange for an understanding that it’s not about you; it’s about the kingdom” – in other words, the trip is about “serving the ‘least of these’ while amongst real and raw community.” Ever since my first mission trip to La Libertad, El Salvador, I have felt called to be a missionary. The cool thing about this opportunity is that “it’s not only a mission trip but also an intensive discipleship program designed to launch my generation into our specific kingdom calling. Through the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.” This adventure is the next step in my life and every part of me is aching to get started.
My family might be moving in June and I will be staying behind for the last couple months before my trip starts. So in addition to financial aid, I’m also in need of a new place to live temporarily – I’ve got all kinds of changes happening! In the meantime though, I am still working as a waitress at the Quaker Steak ‘n Lube located in Columbus, Ohio. I am not the kind of person that likes to ask for assistance but God has been humbling me quite a bit recently and thus, I am reaching out and asking for your help. The trip alone (including insurance and services) costs $16,254.35 – this does not include the cost of the plane tickets to and from training week or our launch location, my required shots, my gear, the cost of the storage space I need while gone, or a $100 monthly allowance. I’m looking at around $18,000 that I need to raise with everything calculated in. Donations can be made online through my blog – they are tax deductible.
