Gearing up!
Luckily, I was provided a pretty extensive packing list. Thank GOODNESS! Otherwise I would have had no idea where to start.
My packing list:
i) Frame Backpack: (I want my pack to be under 50lbs) this will hold everything… just about! Hopefully 
ii) Daypack: this pack should be convenient, lightweight and waterproof
iii) Tent: I have a freestanding 2-person tent (a good tent is about 4lbs). I will be carrying this around in the Frame Backpack, so it’s awesome how light they can make these!
iv) Bedding: I have a small pillow, a sleeping bag (rated for at least 35 degrees), a sleeping bag liner (for warm weather), and a sleeping pad (this will be my bed for the next 11 months… CRAZY!!)
v) Clothing: 1 sweatshirt, 1 rain jacket, 2-4 skirts or dresses (these will be worn 50% of the time), 5-7 modest tops, 2-3 casual pants, 2-3 pairs of shorts, one piece bathing suit, 1 hat, 1 pair of shoes, 1 pair of sandals, 1 pair of flip flops, 10 pairs of underwear 
, and toiletries
vi) Miscellaneous: headlamp (apparently this is way better than a flashlight), watch, outlet converter, travel locks, water bottle, headphones, clothes line, eating utensils (spork, mug, plate, and bowl), towel, lightweight laptop, wipes (most of the country’s I am going to do not have toilet paper) YIKES, sanitizer, pocket knife, journal, pen’s, and my Bible
Wish me luck on my packing endeavor… typically I am not a light packer! PLEASE reach out if you know of something that would be beneficial to have on my journey that is not listed above!!
Vaccinations!! (My favorite 
)
I started looking up all the wonderful vaccinations I must get, and quickly realized that I was going to have to put them in a spreadsheet. There are so many… YIKES!
- measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine,
- diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine,
- varicella (chickenpox) vaccine,
- polio vaccine
- hepatitis A
- typhoid
- hepatitis B
- japanese encephalitis in indonesia
- malaria
- rabies
- yellow fever
- cholera
I am really dreading getting these shots, although I have given it some thought and decided after ten vaccinations what’s another two more!
Any feedback is much appreciated on best location’s to get these vaccinations!?
