Wow, so much has happened in the last month. At the end of our time in Ecuador we were able to link up with 2 other squads (who were 7 months into their journey) in Quito, Ecuador where we had a few days to pray, encourage and uplift one another. Our squad then took a 24 hr bus ride into Peru (with a rather smooth border crossing) to Mancora, Peru for what’s called a Leadership team development weekend. During these 2 days our teammates had an opportunity to worship together, teach and share just before team changes.
We then headed to Lima, Peru where we spent a week before splitting up into our new teams. Ministry in Peru was incredible as it was invested in the children in small towns outside of the city of Cusco. Life for the families who live outside of the city is very different than those considered privileged to work in tourism. Because these children have limited access to water and good education, it is difficult for them to develop positive hygiene habits as well as being more inclined to face significant emotional and behavioral challenges.
Our days with them started once their school day was over. We brought water and toothbrushes for them to wash their hands, faces and brush their teeth before we helped with homework, played and had group activities organized towards the end. Some days were certainly more chaotic than others as they don’t respond well to structure or authority but it was an honor to love on them and be a part of what the Lord is doing in Peru! We’re now in Burgos, Spain on the Camino de Santiago- new update coming soon!
FUNDRAISING UPDATE: I am only $4000 away from being fully funded which means I am over 75% funded! Thank you so much to everyone who has been walking alongside me thus far with your prayers, one time and/or monthly donations and encouragement. Please prayerfully consider partnering with me in this journey or feel free to share this link with anyone you may know who is interested in doing so as well. Contact me if you have any questions and please keep my squad and myself in your prayers. This is just the beginning of what Lord is doing and I’m stoked to see what else he has in store!
