Location:  Intersection in Managua, Nicaragua
Time:  Mid-afternoon yesterday
Characters:  My friend Eli, missionary in Managua
         Jose Antonio, window washer
         Lucy, Eli’s 1973 Land Rover
         Me  πŸ™‚
Background:
Eli has a ton of Bibles stacked up in his house.  His “mission” right now is to head out everyday with a Bible and let God lead him to the person who needs it.  He then gives them the Bible, talks to them about the Lord and listens to their story.  He also keeps a notebook with each person’s name and story in it so that he can continue to pray for them.  [That’ll make a cool book one day, right? :)]
Setting:
Eli and I had just left the park where we’d been laying in hammocks, attempting to write a song about how big God is.
We ended up leaving on the note that God shows Himself big in the little things.
Now we’re stopped at a red light in Lucy the Land Rover; all of our valuables are locked up underneath Eli’s seat; therefore, all we have in within our reach is a baseball bat, a bottle of water and a Bible….
Story:
Jose Antonio approaches Lucy the Land Rover wanting to wash her windows.

Eli is telling him “no” since he’s got nothing to give him for doing it.

Jose Antonio proceeds to wash the front windshield anyway, while commenting on how small it is.

Once he’s finished, he goes to Eli for his compensation…

Eli: “Sorry man, I’m broke.  I don’t have a single peso on me.”

Me: “You should give him the Bible.”

All Eli hears is “You should give him—” because on the other side of him, he’s hearing this…(which I cannot)

Jose Antonio:  “Well, that’s alright.  You can swing back by some other time and pay me.  I’ve been trying to save up to buy a Bible.  It’s the only Truth there is out there.”

I assume Eli didn’t hear me, so just as I’m about to repeat myself, Eli grabs the Bible and hands it to Jose Antonio.

Jose Antonio:  “THANK YOU!!  Glory to God!  THANK YOU!!”  Radiant with joy.

The light turns green, everyone in Managua begins to honk, Lucy starts rollin…

Eli:  “What’s your name?”

Jose Antonio:  “Bob”  πŸ™‚  [I kid, I kid.  This part’s obvious.  haha]

We drive off.

We each explain our side of the story.

And soon I realize we’re both staring straight ahead with these giddy, goofy grins on our faces.  πŸ™‚

Wow.

Case in point….

God shows Himself big in the little things.  πŸ™‚
