I can choose to seek His kingdom first…or to worry.
I can choose to sit at His feet and listen to His word…or to
comparatively and distractedly serve Him.
I can choose to merely do things in His name…or to know
Him.
Intimacy with us is a priority for Him. Intimacy with Him needs to be a priority for
us.
And it’s a choice.
CHOOSE to SEEK
FIRST HIS KINGDOM.
“…DO NOT WORRY, then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What
will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these
things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But SEEK
FIRST HIS KINGDOM and HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, and all these things will be added
to you. ” (Matt. 6:25-33)
CHOOSE to be MARY
or MARTHA
“Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and
a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister called Mary, who was SEATED AT THE LORD’S FEET, LISTENING TO HIS
WORD. But Martha was DISTRACTED WITH
MUCH SERVING; and she came up to Him and said, ‘Lord, do You not care that my
sister has left me to do all the serving alone?
Then tell her to help me.’ But
the Lord answered her and said to her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are WORRIED
and BOTHERED about so many things; but ONLY ONE THING IS NECESSARY, for
Mary has CHOSEN THE GOOD PART, which
shall not be taken away from her.”
(Luke 10:38-42)
CHOOSE to WORK FOR
HIM or to KNOW HIM
“Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not
prophecy IN YOUR NAME, and IN YOUR NAME cast our demons, and IN YOUR NAME
perform many miracles?’ And then I will
declare to them, ‘I NEVER KNEW YOU;
depart from Me…”
(Matt. 7:22-23)
One thing I quickly noticed about the Dominican culture, is
that building relationships is of the utmost importance. If we were talking in terms of “The Five Love
Languages” I’d say they value Quality Time over Acts of Service. They’re not too concerned about what we DO
while we’re here…instead, they’d rather get to KNOW us, and let us get to KNOW
them. Instead of building things, we’re
sitting on front porches. Instead of
cleaning things, we’re playing with them.
Instead of just DOING, we’re KNOWING.
It is with the Dominicans as it is with our God.
Relationship is of the utmost importance.
His love language is Quality Time. J
He’d rather us KNOW Him than DO things for Him.
Intimacy with us is a priority for Him.
Intimacy with Him needs to be a priority for us.
And it’s a choice.
CHOOSE INTIMACY.
“Be still and KNOW that I am God.”
(Ps. 46:10)
