A few weeks ago I saw the movie “Blood Diamond” for the first time…
[on a side note, it was quite the miracle that I was able to a) stay awake through an entire movie, period. And b) able to stay awake till 2 a.m. in order to watch it! :)]
I definitely wasn’t expecting God to speak through it. But, shew, did He ever!!!!!
To briefly catch you up on the premise of the movie, Dia Vandy (the son) has been kidnapped by the rebel army and forced to become a child soldier. Solomon Vandy (his father) has dropped everything in search of his son and has finally found, fought for and rescued him. In this scene, a brainwashed Dia suddenly turns on his father.
How often do we run from the Lord in shame because we’ve been brainwashed by the enemy to “do bad things”?
How often do we believe the lie that what we do = who we are, or that our past failures define our present identity?
How often do we remain enslaved to who satan says we are instead of walking in the freedom of who God says we are?
I believe God says to you and to me: (insert your name in place of mine)
“Vanessa, What are you doing? Vanessa! Look at me, look at me. What are you doing?
You are Vanessa O’Neal, of the ROYAL PRIESTHOOD. (1 Pet. 2:9)
You are FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made. (Ps. 139:13-14)
You were created in MY IMAGE. (Gen. 1:27)
You are CHOSEN by Me and ADOPTED as my child. (Eph. 1:3-8)
You are HOLY and DEARLY LOVED. (Col. 3:12)
You were BOUGHT WITH A PRICE and BELONG TO ME. (1 Cor. 6:19-20)
You are My WORKMANSHIP. (Eph. 2:10)
You are a TEMPLE of the Holy Spirit. (1 Cor. 3:16)
You are COMPLETE in Me. (Col. 2:10)
You are REDEEMED and FORGIVEN. (Col 1:13-14)
You are a NEW CREATION. (2 Cor 5:17)
You are MORE THAN A CONQUERER. (Rom. 8:37)
You are RIGHTEOUS. (2 Cor. 5:21)
You are FREE. (Gal. 5:1)
I know the enemy deceived you and you did bad things, but you are not a bad girl.
I AM YOUR FATHER WHO LOVES YOU.
And you will come home with me and be my daughter again.”
