During our time in the D.R., it seemed as if every time we
went to introduce ourselves to someone, they immediately began to tell us their
pains and ailments….whether it be an ongoing pain in their legs for the last
ten years, panic attacks, recurring headaches, etc. We would offer to pray for them, and more
times than not, got to see the Lord’s healing hand at work.
One instance that stands out…
I had met Pastor Gregorio’s mom earlier in the week. Now we were in one of the nightly church
services; she was sitting in the front row and I was closer to the back. God kept pressing it on my heart to pray for
her, so rather than attempt to understand the message in Spanish, I instead
focused my attention on lifting her up.
After the night came to a close, as she was making her way
to the door, we greeted one another and I told her I had been praying for her
throughout the service. Her response was
to tell me that her ankle and wrist were hurting. So I asked her if we could pray for her. Elizabeth, Katy and I then laid hands on her
and began to ask the Lord to heal her.
After praying for physical healing, I just asked the Lord to bring
peace to her heart and to carry her burdens, knowing that her husband has
Alzheimers. As we were finishing up our
prayers, she mentioned her husband’s illness.
Thank you Lord for living to intercede for us! J
The next morning I ran into her and asked her how she was
feeling, and with joy she wiggled her ankle and wrist and said she was feeling
better! (Later that week, she joined us
all for our 6 a.m. prayer walk around town!!)
Praise God!
Perhaps the coolest part to me comes next. As you know, we hardly ever have access to
the internet. However, the following
week I was able to get online for a little bit, so I copied a bunch of e-mails
and messages onto my desktop to read later.
A few days later I went through and read them all.
This one from Eli stood out:

Psalm 103:2-4
2Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits;
3Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases;
4Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
Isaiah 61
Exaltation of the Afflicted
1The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
Because the LORD has anointed me
To bring good news to the afflicted;
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to captives
And freedom to prisoners;
Matthew 8:7
Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
Matthew 10:8
“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast
out demons. Freely you received, freely give.
Luke 9:2
And He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to
perform healing.
Luke 10:8-9
8″Whatever city you enter and they receive you, eat what is
set before you;
9and heal those in it who are sick, and say to them, ‘The
kingdom of God has come near to you.’
Acts 9:34
Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you; get up
and make your bed.” Immediately he got up.
Acts 28:8
And it happened that the father of Publius was lying in bed
afflicted with recurrent fever and dysentery; and Paul went in to see him and
after he had prayed, he laid his hands on him and healed him.
Today I have felt strongly that I should pray for you about
healing. That you would hear clearly if God calls you to do it, and act boldly
and faithfully, calling on His name to heal the person you are called to. I
also pray that the Lord works strongly through your hand when you hear His call
to act. Bring good news to the afflicted, and bind the broken hearts. Not all
healing is from a physical wound 🙂
Be Blessed,
Eli”
I was curious about what went down that day so I looked back
in my journal….
Same day. J Go figure. J
Thank you all for your prayers…and please let me know when God lays something on your hearts to lift up…most likely it’ll end up as another one of these stories…more glory to His Name! 🙂
