Just a couple of months ago I was comfortable doing what I wanted to do. Not having a clue that God was about to change that real fast! As I think about the fact that in 6 months I am going to be traveling the world in the name of Jesus for a year living a life of simplicity in a tent and 1 backpack to hold my whole life and I cannot help but notice that I am UNQUALIFIED. I see my fellow teammates and all the experience in the mission field that they have, and how some have been planning to go on this trip for years. I naturally compare myself to them and see this little California girl who has no experience with the outdoors, never been out of the county, never left my family, and has suddenly been given a calling to leave everything and step into something that is beyond my comfort zone and I myself never could have imaged I would be doing. I see a girl that is way in over her head!
But then The Lord gave me great encouragement “ With great calling come great doubt.” Doubt does not come from Jesus, Doubt solely comes from what the bible calls the devil (the evil one, the enemy). The Devil in Hebrew is “Diabolos” meaning: Slanderer, or to making a false spoken statement damaging to a person’s reputation. The Devil is the father of lies. He will plant doubt in our minds telling us we are not good enough, he will accuse you of doing wrong, he will tell you that you are not equipped, and provoke our thoughts. As God guides us into unknown or uncomfortable territory we panic. We as humans automatically think of all the negatives before thinking of the positive outcome of stepping out in faith. We are quick to accept the lies that the devil leads us to believe.
In those moments it is important that I remember that we have each been given a specific calling in Gods master plan, and when God has called you to something He is going to give you the tools needed to accomplish that calling. Remember that YOU have been anointed. YOU have been given the power of Jesus giving you the ability. And YOU have the greatest weapon from above The Holy spirit! When we are faced with doubt we are to speak truth into the lies we so easily convinced of and remember the promises of truth, love ,and power given in The Lord.
