The Serengeti National Park.

Was this really my life? Driving around in a Land Cruiser with the top open and beauty surrounding me on all sides?

Days off are great.

We kick started February with a safari, lots of driving, camping under the African sky, dancing on seats and just enjoying the fact that we were out of the house.

One of the few things I have learned/remembered this month is that God is Creator. He made every leaf on every tree. He made every animal we’ve ever seen and all the ones we haven’t. He paints sunsets and sunrises. He counts the number of hairs on my head. He made lakes and oceans, colors and skies, mountains and valleys and hills. He is just downright awesome.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.” Psalm 19:1-2

This has been the verse that constantly sits with me. Whether I’m sitting on top of a rather large rock looking over Lake Victoria or staring at stars or driving around the Serengeti I am constantly reminded of who God is and how small I am.

I love it. I stand in awe.

I also got to see something leap and bound and attack some food!

It just happened to be a baboon stealing my bread.
(I think they know when you are mocking them)

But do you want to know the absolute best part of the trip?

Walking back to our house after being gone for two days and seeing this precious child run way too fast down a steep hill to jump in my arms. He didn’t need any help stealing my heart. The deal was sealed.

Ernesto, I love you.
