Day 1: Flight delayed

In the last few days my squad has been reunited in Atlanta, Georgia where we’ve been finishing up some training for safety, logistics, ministry, and story telling. Being prayed over and into by our leadership team here in the States and the squadmates that have become family is rejuvenating. God is starting something deep in my soul and I can’t wait to see what it will look like.

So far, it looks like fighting technology addictions! It’s Day 1 and we are traveling to Cartagena, Colombia for our first month and our flight has been delayed twice now. My instinct is to reach for my phone and waist away time by scrolling through Instagram and watching my beloved Netflix shows I’ll miss. No matter how much I feel that I’m not addicted to technology, it’s comfort and safety. With this, our squad has been challenged to spend the first 6 weeks abstaining from social media and technology. I am excited and nervous about this because I know it’ll get tough when I desperately need that comfort. I’m beginning to pray that I would press INTO what I am trying to avoid or ignore, not default to distraction.

We have LOTS to look forward to in our first month! Two of the five teams on our squad will be in Cartagena with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) ministry, serving them in every way we can. I cannot wait to share the stories of the people we meet and share love with!!

I will be updating once a week from now on. If you have encouragements, thoughts, prayers, or just want to keep up with my personally, please email me at: [email protected]

Good news! Our plane is now here!
