Week 1 has FLOWN by! I love these people and this place. Let me tell you about it!

Cartagena is a city in Northern Colombia, right next to the ocean. There are 845,800 people that live in this bustling city and roughly 80% of the people are Catholic and not practicing their faith actively.
We have 2 teams (11 girls total) at my location this month. We have been working and living at a YWAM (Youth With A Mission) base. These students are from all over Central and South America. Most of them are around age 20 and they are all studying to become missionaries.
These people have become my home. They have taken us in as their family and have shown us so much love. We eat with them, we sit in classes with them, and best of all we struggle to teach each other our native language. It can get quite funny, but also frustrating as you can imagine. There is so much to say but as I have been forced to limit my words, they carry so much more weight and meaning.
Everyday I wake up around 5:30 or 6 and go exercise, get ready for the day, and read a devotional. What a dream right! Well, around here you don’t want to wake up late because when you hear that bell ring from downstairs, you do not want to miss what’s about to happen. Comida! The food (and coffee) is great!! Especially at lunch time since it is the biggest meal of the day haha.
We have been doing many different types of ministry here. On our first day, we walked to the river and picked up truck loads of trash and passed out juice to people with high hopes that they would stop and talk to us. We got to pray for a lot of people and we’re blessed by the stories that came from that time. Since then, we’ve done some organizing for the YWAM base including their whole tool shed and we’re in the middle of building them a new roof for it!
We’re doing A LOT here and it’s only month 1! However, my most favorite moments have been with the students and staff living here. There’s 120 of them here! I’ve gotten very close with a few and I am already feeling like I never want to leave. It’s really very true when people say that others will impact you more than you could ever impact them. I’m excited to share a story of a young girl named Sofia, next week! We are headed to her smaller village this afternoon for the next week!! Should be fantastico!
Prayer Requests:
-YWAM students! They are all raising funds just like us so they can go out to the nations on mission as well
-Safety, health, and spiritual covering for the next week. The village we are going to has been known for witchcraft and deep spiritual attack.
-That my team would develop good rest habits for the race
-FUNDS so I can continue to remain on the field and serve these people!! I need $2,226 before Sept 30!!
XOXO
