Often this month, I have had people ask “what exactly IS Unsung Heroes?”

The simple answer is that, as an Unsung Heroes team, we traverse the country looking for ministries and contacts for AIM to partner with, in the hopes of sending future World Race teams to work with them. But it is so, so much more than that.

It is the chance to see the Church Body as a whole, as Christ intended it. I have seen how connected the Body in Albania is, and it is so encouraging! UH was easy in a lot of ways this month, because everyone we met gave us at least three other contacts to check out. The Church here is thriving and growing, and it was so amazing to be a part of it for a month. Meeting people like Judy, Johannes and Kim, Robin, Daniel and Monica, Geni, Saimir, Darryl and Debbie, Jan, and more really put a face to how the Church should look.

So often on the World Race, I get caught up in the squad, in the monthly ministry, in my team, and in my own personal growth. None of these things are bad, but I want to challenge myself to look beyond these things and look for ways I can help build the global Church. I want to encourage and support my brothers and sisters around the world. Because really, that’s what this year is about. We serve and love, share the Gospel, and pour into communities, but ultimately, we’re building and growing and encouraging and shaping the Church. And that’s something worth doing.
