This month, Team Beautifully Rooted was tasked with the job of Unsung Heroes. This meant we traversed the beautiful country of Albania, looking for new ministries and contacts for AIM to partner with in the future. One day, Amanda, Kayla, and I took a trip to the small town of Memaliaj to visit with some missionaries there.
In the town of Memaliaj, a German couple lives and works in the community they love. Daniel and Monica, along with their three children, have devoted themselves to spreading the Gospel and discipling native Albanians in Memaliaj and the surrounding villages. This couple loves Jesus and wants the people in their community to love Him as well. They are partnered with a church in town, pastored by Geni, an Albanian man who came to faith as a teenager and now, in his 30’s, seeks to pour himself into his countrymen. They also spend hours during the week traveling to the villages around the area, putting on youth programs, running discipleship groups, and spreading the love of Christ.
Daniel and Monica have given up a comfortable life in Germany to say yes to Jesus. They have been in Albania for years, and they are doing some awesome things to spread the Gospel. I hope to see some future World Race teams partner with this ministry. It was so neat to visit with their family, as well as Geni, and pour into and encourage them. They also blessed us and encouraged us during our visit. And really, isn’t that what the Church is all about?
Please be in prayer for Daniel and Monica, that the Lord would continue to bless and encourage them as they serve Him. Pray for Geni, that he would be encouraged and strengthened to continue his work for his country. And pray for his upcoming marriage, that the Lord would bless it and be the foundation.
