Hey Supporters!

Y'all are just so awesome. It has meant the world to me to have a whole team of people back home praying for me, supporting me, and following my blog. I will never be able to thank you enough.

And now I'm going to ask even more of you. Remember Cambodia? I got to work every day with precious kids who had special needs, and I loved it! BYKOTA House loves these kids so much, but the staff are not trained in how to effectively serve little ones with cerebral palsy or autism. They meet all their physical needs and show affection to these adorable nuggets, but they just don't know how to take it to the next step to truly benefit these kids' lives. World Race teams have helped so much, but not everyone has experience with special needs, so while it's great that Hope, Tedah, Tina, and Sammy get extra love and attention and stimulation, they need more.

Enter me. I want to spend the month of October at BYKOTA House in Cambodia, setting up a special needs program for the kids. I intend to train the staff on ways they can incorporate therapy into daily tasks (especially for Hope, who will at some point be able to participate in self-care if given the skills needed). I also will create activities and sensory boxes for the kids, as well as put together resources for World Race teams coming through. The Race teams are such a blessing to BYKOTA House, and I want them to really be used well.

I also want to go and bless the Benz family, who runs BYKOTA House. They are American missionaries who have lived in Cambodia for 10 years. This family is incredible…they felt God calling them to Phnom Penh, and they listened! They have such a heart for children in need, and they work hard to provide safety, food, shelter, education, and a sense of family for kids in Cambodia. They love all kids, regardless of ability. I want to be able to go and serve them using my gifts and talents. Any leftover or extra money raised will go directly to blessing them.

So what do I need? Prayer! Always! Pray that I would be able to use the month of September to equip myself to set up a great program. I'm going to try to shadow physical and occupational therapists, as well as pick the brains of those more experienced than I in the fields of autism and cerebral palsy. I also need support money. I'm trying to raise $3000 to go, which will mostly go towards a round-trip ticket, but will also cover my daily living costs, my Cambodian visa fee, and supplies for the program. I've set up a GoFundMe account if you're interested in supporting me! Thank you SO much, faithful ones!
