Blessed.

If I had to choose a word to sum up ministry this month, that would be it. I felt so beyond blessed to be a part of BYKOTA House and the Benz family. BYKOTA House is a small home for children who are orphaned or at risk for trafficking and abuse. Mark and Rhonda Benz, the directors, seek to provide a family environment for the 23 children in the home and to teach them about Christ and His love for them.

The kids at BYKOTA House are housed, fed, and clothed. They are provided an education with the Khmer school system, as well as English lessons and Bible study every day. They are poured into and built up to be successful members of Cambodian society. One of the original girls from BYKOTA House is now married to a local man from the church and works at BYKOTA House! Some of the other adults that grew up at BYKOTA House still come back to visit Mom and Dad (Mark and Rhonda).

My task for the month was to work with the kids with special needs. Since this is a passion of mine, I felt extremely blessed to use my skills and knowledge to help BYKOTA House in this specific way. Every day I spent time with Tina, Hope, Tedah, and Sammy, and I loved every minute. Getting to teach them new skills, laugh with them, and show them the love of Christ was definitely a highlight from this month. I really respect BYKOTA House’s decision to accept a child regardless of their abilities or needs.

My month at BYKOTA House was a huge blessing in my life. I will always treasure the memories of the kids, the staff, and the Benz family. Future World Racers, you are in for an amazing month!
