So, why the World Race?
Well, first let’s talk about what is the World Race. The World Race is an 11-month missionary trip where you travel to 11 different countries in 11 months—living out of a backpack (literally)! I know this may sound like an awful idea to some and a chance to live an amazing adventure for others. My response was the latter. The squad I am traveling with is a group of 39 fellow Christ followers and we launched on January 3rd 2019 to spread the gospel and BE LOVE to those in need.
The countries we will visit are: Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, India, Nepal, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Romania and Portugal.
During this time, we will partner with local churches and organizations, serving them to meet the unique needs of the community while sharing the gospel. This may include preaching in churches, loving kids in orphanages, building homes or ministering to sex trafficking victims and the homeless population.
So, why now?
This is a question many people ask me. The answer is simple. It is not because I “felt called” because we are ALL called by God to share the gospel. It is simply because there is a never-ending joy and unexplainable peace that comes from knowing and having a intentional relationship with Jesus and I want others to experience this too.
Traveling the world and experiencing culture is something that has always been in my heart and when you pair this with Jesus well its a win-win! Ever since I was 7 years old I’ve KNOWN I wanted to be a missionary. The desire sparked in me after hearing a missionary couple from Honduras come speak at my church. What they said exactly I do not remember but what did resonate with me was the joy that radiated from them as they spoke about the way the Lord was using them. I never acknowledged the power of joy that comes from the LORD until that day. Today, that little 7-year-old girl in me that wanted to be a missionary would be so proud to see that once dream has come to fruition!
If you are reading this today and have never experienced this type of joy or if it is something you desire–don’t disregard that feeling–SEEK THE LORD he WILL deliver! Luke 11:9-10 ESV says, “And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.”
“But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.”
