What started with over 3,000 images capturing a soul, a moment, a place, and a ministry, has come down to the grand finale. The top 5 portfolios were chosen from the final 30 that made it into the last round.
Due to the outstanding number of talented photographers with quality portfolios, an additional 15 Honorable Mention photographs were chosen. Thanks to all the talented photographers who were willing to share their art with us.
Brita is a member of the church we worked with in Cologne that reaches out and ministers to the students at the University of Cologne. I first met Brita on a weekend retreat with the church in Holland.
The second day of the retreat, I had the privilege of sitting next to Brita as group of us took an afternoon trip to Amsterdam. As we rode along in the van, Brita began telling me how the Lord had transformed her life and her relationship with Him in the last year. It is with her permission that I share this amazing story with you. Read More…
We spent the afternoon at a local hospital today. We toured through an area that specialized in caring for children with cerebral palsy and down syndrome. The kids there ranged in age from newborns all the way up to young adults. Now I have to tell you that I was a little nervous about this ministry work.
I’m not exactly sure why I felt so uneasy as one of my favorite people in the whole world is a boy named Will who is the son of my good friend Bill Harmon who lives out in Colorado. Ministries abound in South Africa. In the township of Sualala, Janette has started a sewing ministry where women can learn how to make items such as clothing and handbags which are then sold in an effort to support their families. While they are learning the tricks of the sewing trade, Janette is also discipling these ladies through Bible studies.
In the Badplaas township, a dedicated group has been constructing a nursery school that is to open in about a week. The head teacher, Elisabeth, walked through the work in progress with a smile and a twinkle in her eye that looked as if she was envisioning what the classrooms would look like filled with young children. A quick three part description of who I am: loud, extraverted and excited about most anything. So naturally, I expected my calling into missions to be the same way from God. Right? He should be banging on the doors of my life, getting my attention. Well… the exact opposite happened. I just graduated from Philadelphia Biblical University this May with a degree in Youth Ministry. I had plans to go around the world with a friend, I had plans to go teach in Korea, I had plans to do anything, but the key was they were all MY plans. Read More…
