Lonely Planet
calls Sri Lanka a
"nirvana for beach lovers."

Does it get any better than this? We think so.

This island off the coast of India is full of tropical forests and legendary ancient temples. It boasts the exports of coffee, tea, coconut, and cinnamon. Just the thought of smelling the air makes our mouths water.

Maybe you're not the beach bum type – you crave adventure. Never fear. Sri Lanka is home to 103 waterfalls, thousands of elephants, and thousands of hiking trails.

But the most awesome fact about Sri Lanka?

It's on one of our July 2013 routes – YOU can go!

Many of our awesome participants have already made Route 4 their top choice. Check out who you could be travelling the world with here.

But do you know what we love most about these Racers?

When we asked them why they chose Route 4, they didn't mention anything about the wonder and adventure of Sri Lanka – they mentioned the people. The struggles. The need. And the hope.

Ali Bruce says, "I chose this route over the others because this one included a stop in Sri Lanka. During the summer of 2011, I volunteered at a Young Life camp in New York for 4 weeks. During this time the guest music player shared a story about his life.

"He grew up in Sri Lanka, and as a young boy asked his grandmother why there were so many people lying in the streets who seemed to need help, yet nobody was stopping to help them. His grandmother responded by physically turning his head away and saying 'We do not look at them, they have done something wrong in their past life.'

"Ever since I heard that story, I have been interested in Sri Lanka because I want to help people nobody looks at and show those who turn away true love."
