While we at the World Race love ministry, so much of how we experience God in the journey as a whole. Kari Williamson, of U squad, took a moment to take in the reality of travelling on the Race, and how just a few months ago, she was just a normal college student. When she did, she began to ask what “normal” is supposed to look like.
Every now and then, I have one of these philosophical moments that goes something like, “Holy… This is real life. This is actually life right now.”
It’s usually in the most random times: Like sleeping on my backpack, waiting on a 16 hour train drinking milk tea.
Or climbing back on to a night bus at 12:20, when they randomly wake you up to go off the bus into a garage to choose a food at random for your dinner.
Or when I’m sleeping in the bar of a hostel because our rooms aren’t ready until the next day.

Or flying down the interstate in the back of a songtau (which is basically a pickup truck with some bars around the sides).

When did this become normal?!
It’s so hard to believe that less than a few months ago I was a college student in normal small town Barbourville. Yet somehow this is now the norm.
God blesses me so much in these small moments just as much as He does when I’m witnessing to my Chinese friends, or loving on the beautiful kids at Remember Nhu. In these crazy small moments, I can laugh and get a glimpse of how God is even in the small things. I can see how much He delights in our joy. We just have a little moment together where He assures me I am right where I am supposed to be and that He cares for every detail of my life, no matter how crazy it gets!
Kari discovered God resides in places we don’t expect. From pick up trucks to tables, life on the road never gets boring, and God is always speaking. Want to see more adventures of how “crazy” life on the road gets? Subscribe to the World Race Update blog today!
