God called Pamela Galvin (January 2013 O Squad) out of a partying lifestyle, then led her to the World Race. (Click here to read more about her story). Now, see how he’s kept working in her life during the Race.

“When I look at pictures of myself before the Race, I barely recognize the person looking back at me.”

Even after Pamela Galvin decided to leave drinking, drugs, and parties behind and follow God, she still didn’t feel free. “I was still trying to control everything. I was still scared of what others thought about me. I was still walking in fear that I wasn’t good enough.”

All that has changed. Pamela is in her last month of the Race, and God has used the past 10 months to bring her confidence and freedom.

And in Romania, Pamela had an experience that changed the way she sees her own family.

As Pamela’s team walked through a park praying for people, an older man sitting on a bench caught her attention. She sat down next to him and noticed the smell of alcohol on his breath. The man began to share his story with her.

He had gone through a terrible divorce and no longer has a relationship with his two daughters. Pamela could easily have condemned the man; her own family has been rocked by alcoholism and divorce. She knew the pain his actions likely brought on his wife and children.

But instead, Pamela stayed. She listened as the man opened up to her. “As he looked into my eyes and confessed, I felt my heart start to ache for him. I felt his guilt and shame. And in that moment, I felt the need to pray for him.”

Pamela prayed for the man. She prayed for restoration, for a sense of hope, for a renewed mind. She prayed that he would come to know God’s love for him and the forgiveness Christ offers.

“And as I fought back tears to get everything out, I believed for the first time in my life that this was possible. Not only for this man on the park bench, but for my own family as well.”

Pamela learned that day about the power of prayer. “My faith was increased, and I’ve been diving into prayer ever since, with a full expectancy that God is working behind the scenes for good.”

“And since then, God has been doing crazy amazing work within my family. I can’t wait to get home and see his hand continue to move, even after the Race!”

Pamela’s life has changed, no doubt. “Now I am walking confidently as a daughter of the King. I’m learning to totally surrender myself on a daily basis to Jesus Christ, my Savior. I have learned how to pray and how to be bold and confident in him. I have given my heart over to God to mold me and change me into the woman he created me to be.”

And she’s ready to carry on the changes as she returns to the U.S. “I know that this Race is not going to end after Month 11. Month 12 will be the real test, as I go home and bear witness to my family and friends. But I’m so ready! I’m excited to share his love with many more people, especially with girls living in the bondage of guilt, despair, and shame.”

“I want to live according to his will because I believe with all my heart in his plan, whether I understand it or not. I trust that he has me in the palm of his hands, and that he’s working for good.”
