  • Nepal is slightly bigger than the state of Arkansas.
  • It’s population is 28,563,377, 42nd most populated country in the world.Nepalese Flag
  • Kathmandu is the nation’s capital and the country’s largest metropolitan
    city.
  • Nepal is home to Mount Everest, the highest mountain on Earth (above sea level) at 8,850 m or 29,029 ft.
  • The Nepalese monarchy ended and a cabinet system of government was
    implemented in 1951.
  • The currency used is the Nepalese Rupee, and it’s exchange rate is about
    71:1 US Dollar.
  • Nepal’s exports are mainly carpets, clothing, leather goods, jute goods
    and grain
  • Nepal is the only official Hindu country in the world.  80.6% of the population is Hindu, 10.7% are Buddhist, 4.2% are Muslim and 3.6% are Kirant. Kirant is an indigenous religion that reveres nature and practices ancestral worship.
  • Nepal as the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama, who, as the Gautam Buddha founded the Buddhist faith.
  • 52% of the population is illiterate.
  • The Nepalese are descendants of three major migrations from Asia: Tibet, North Burma and Yunnan
  • A typical Nepalese meal is dal-bhat-tarkari. Dal is a
    spicy lentil soup, served over bhat (boiled rice), served with tarkari
    (curried vegetables) together with achar (pickles) or chutni
    (spicy condiment).
