Re-
Seems like we can’t get enough of that prefix! If you didn’t get the June 2011 newsletter in your inbox, you’re in luck! The following is pretty much the same except with some key revisions here and there; let’s see if you can spot ’em!
Decide to refresh.
about transformation, and today, we are releasing one of our largest
transformations in years! Tomorrow 150+
Racers will be arriving at training camp because they’ve decided to live a
better story.
faith, we’ve decided to tell a better story of our own. Our first
step? [Drumroll]
I’ve decided to refresh my day with stories of what God is doing all
over the world: http://bit.ly/mF3QyU
Remix your status quo.
The World Race makes only a few promises – one of them being plenty of change. Even God keeps it fresh by making all things new! We love remixing the status quo, and we know you do too:
- we spiced up the video of the supafly spoken word by Mike Perez (which you can download real quick) and
- we spruced up our Twitter page; follow us and the hashtag #11n11.
Change is in our DNA; it’s a natural part of life. That’s something to celebrate! We’re excited about our current, and upcoming remixes [hint, hint] but we are even more excited about the remixing going on in your life. What’s being remixed in your life? Better yet, what needs to be remixed?
Do it. Remix your status quo.
Where in the World is the World Race?
For our current Racers, whilst Twittering from the field, use the hashtag #11n11. This will help us follow and keep up with you in real-time!

Honorable Mentions
Here’s what’s being said about the World Race elsewhere:
- Remember how Curt Devine‘s piece was originallly featured in the May/June issue of Relevant magazine? It’s been featured on their website!
- Siren Magazine says, “The World Race doesn’t allow for luke-warm missionaries. It’s not intended for apathetic twenty-somethings. It’s certainly not for the faint of heart.” Check out the rest of the interview with Tiffany Berkowitz.
- Misty Anderson‘s hometown paper gave her a column where you can read updates from her World Race.
- The Newton Citizen (Georgia) reported on the World Race Human Trafficking Edition’s partnership with 4Sarah, a non-profit that offers a way out for women who want out of the adult entertainment “industry”.
Ignition & Launch
The next training camp is for the September & October 2011 World Races starts tomorrow, July 2 and runs through July 10, 2011, in Copper Hill, TN. Keep the new Racers, staff and all the logistics involved in prayer!
The July 2011 squads launch on 7/11/11 from NYC (JFK):
- Quito, Ecuador (W Squad)
- Bucharest, Romania (X Squad)
Pray for safe & smooth travels (no lost baggage!) and a solid start to the Race!
Celebrate Nepal
One of our January 2011 squads, the T Squad, was the first to minister in Nepal. Check out the adventures the U squad has had:
- Four Racers went on a treasure hunt in a city with other missionaries.
- Rachel Ritsema bungee jumped the wrong way (and did a bunch of other things, too).
- Check the homepage this week for a couple more crazy God stories in Nepal!
Here’s a video that the T squad made of breaking ground in Nepal.
Save the Dates
- 102 days left to apply for the January 2012 World Race [10/10/11] *
- The Awakening is Stateside at Adventures in Missions’s HQ in Gainesville, GA. Friends and family of the World Race, this is your chance to get a taste of the amazingness. Alumni! This is the perfect way to reunite with your teammates & squadmates. Mark your calendars and register! There’s less than three months left!
* Wow. The original newsletter said there were 67 days left to apply; that was a most egregious error, our apologies. Surely, this is why i do the writing/editing and not the accounting around here. – Sara Choe.
