Before going on the Race, Alum Rene McCorn of 2013 T Squad was skeptical she’d ever see a physical healing. Then one night in Ireland changed everything.

We were told at Training Camp that we’d probably see and experience a physical healing on the field — whether in ourselves, in someone on our squad, or in someone we were ministering to.

I left training camp feeling unconvinced, and honestly, kind of freaked out.

I have to see this in order to believe it, I thought. I lacked faith that God could do the supernatural in today’s world and through sinners like me.

Five months later, I saw a miracle in Northern Ireland.

Our team wasn’t actually out doing ministry. Instead, we were in training with our host church, which wanted us prepared to intercede for and minister healing through the power of God wherever we were that month.

God had been working on me since Training Camp, so now I was more open to the concept. And after hearing incredible teaching and mind-blowing stories, I couldn’t wait to be a part of this.

I was finally to the point where I wanted to see a miracle with my own eyes.

But I never could have expected what happened next.

As the training ended, our host speaker, Mark, asked if anyone had legs that were different lengths. One of my squadmates, Logan, raised his hand. Mark explained he didn’t want to just show us the healing of things we couldn’t see, like a headache or back pain. He wanted us to see God visibly healing something in front of us.

Mark asked Logan sit all the way back in a chair, lift both of his legs up, and place them together. It was obvious to everyone that Logan had one leg about an inch shorter than the other. The imbalance was due to a metal hip from an accident years before.

So our whole squad circled around to see what was about to happen, some of us skeptical and others ready. I doubted strongly that I would see anything miraculous — and yet a part of me believed that incredible healing would take place.

Mark started to pray for healing using the authority God has given us. He commanded Logan’s leg to grow, and a few seconds later, Logan’s leg slowly lengthened.

His leg grew before my eyes. IT GREW!

The whole room gasped. I was dumbstruck. What. Just. Happened?! I started to weep, and everyone around me did too.

I’d literally witnessed a miracle!

I can’t explain how my relationship with God has changed since I have seen him do the impossible. He gave me a big boost of faith, one I needed in order to finish my Race well. I now understand why Jesus came to this earth and performed miracles — in order for us to believe.

The thing that we don’t understand, especially in the US, is that God has given us authority to heal and perform miracles as well. And by “us,” I mean everyone — not just people with extreme faith. Jesus gave his disciples authority to heal people, so who are we to think we can’t do the same? His disciples were normal people, just like us. We are his disciples too!

The church I served with in Ireland puts this faith into action. Every Saturday, whether in pouring rain, freezing snow, or perfect weather, they go out on the streets and pray for healing. They see miracles — and I mean big miracles — happening on the street every week. The blind see, the paralyzed walk, and people’s lives are changed forever.

The church members also pray for healing in their church all the time. Even their children pray for healing, believing that if they only ask, they will see the power of God.

The people of this church have a faith I want. My dream is to walk as boldly as they do, putting feet to my faith wherever I am. I want to see more churches in the United States using the authority God has given us to heal people in order to help those who are really hurting and ultimately lead people to Christ!

I want to see the body of Christ walk in the power of God as He has called us to.

I want to see a miracle.
