The World Race – Leaving your home and everything you know to travel the globe for 11 months with a group of people you don't know yet. It can be scary, and we get that.

That's why we have an amazing team of people in our office in Gainesville, GA and around the world to help you through every step of the process. They continue to raise support after returning from the mission field in order to serve you as you begin your own journey. This month we'll be featuring one of them each Wednesday so you can meet the faces who make the World Race go.

You've been accepted to the World Race – what happens next? Meet our Mobilizers.

A mobilizer is the person who takes you from acceptance to launch. Once you complete the interview process and are accepted as a future World Racer, you'll be assigned a mobilizer who helps everyone on your squad navigate the process of preparing for the Race, support raising, and leaving home for 11 months.

They answer your questions, support you, and challenge you to start stepping outside your comfort zone even before you leave on the Race.

Meet one of our mobilizers:

Erin Knight did the World Race in January 2011 on T Squad. After coming back she began working as Mobilizer for the World Race in order to help future generations of World Racers. She stopped her busy schedule to answer a few questions for future World Racers.

What made you want to be a mobilizer?

I wanted to take my experience from the Race and use it to equip the next generation of Racers to go out on the field.

You’ve been accepted to the World Race – what's next?

The Racer will be told who their mobilizer is. The mobilizer will get in touch with them with a 20-30 minute conversation. This will establish the roles of what you need to get done before leaving for the field and how the mobilizer will serve a resource for this transition.

After that conversation, the mobilizer becomes the point of contact at Adventures before you leave for the field. This can be for support, answering any questions, addressing concerns, and coaching for fundraising.

What do you want Racers to know about Mobilization?

Your mobilizer is your best resource for support and information. You should not have to feel like you are in this alone. This is the beginning of community that is unique to the World Race.

Erin and the rest of our mobilizers are waiting to help you get ready for the World Race – but first you have to start your application.
