Heading out on the World Race, Ruth Wilson of T-squad had no idea what to expect. She was desperate for Adventure and to love on people, but that's all she knew. Packing her bags and saying her goodbyes she stepped into the unknown, facing her fears. Those of you heading out soon, take a deep breath and dive in. Great adventure awaits and you will never be the same again.
Here is a summary of my World Race…
Basically it was one heck of a year.
It has been psychotic and brilliant.
It has been the best and hardest year of my life.
I have been to 15 countries.
I have been to five of the seven continents.
I have laughed until I cried and cried so hard that I couldn't help but laughed.
I have ridden planes, bikes, taxis, tuk tuks, cars, tractors, double-decker buses, motorbikes, back of trucks, trailers, on top of buses, and any other form of transport possible.
I have loved and hated.
I have eaten all sorts of rice down to street rat.
I have met Christ's advocates all over the world.

I have spoken the name of Jesus to eager ears.
I have drunk the best coffee and worst water.
I have slept in hammocks, tents, rooftops, bunk beds, storage units, hostels, airports and airplanes, train stations, trains, hotels, double-decker buses, golf courses, monasteries and under the stars, homeless shelters and anywhere else.
I have watched Slumdog millionaire in India, Lion King in Swazi, and Blood Diamond in Mozambique.
I have gone an embarrassing number of days without showering.
I have climbed the Himalayas and choked down curdled milk.
I have learned to sew and wake up at ungodly hours.
I have seen termite hills double my height and the third smallest person in the world.

I have stared at the southern cross and at wild horses running in a field.
I have seen hundreds of orphans thankful for their one meal of rice for the day.
I have seen grandmas climbing mountains to go to Church.
I have been swimming in the most gorgeous watering holes.
I have seen prostitutes leave their profession to pursue the Lord.
I have seen kids eager to hear more stories of the one true God.
I have whispered bible stories to kids falling asleep under the stars.
I have gone on a sailboat to get to an untouched beach.
I have witnessed my dinner being killed in front of me many times.
I have lived without a washer and dryer and dishwasher for a year.
I have found peace in seeing my family's faces via Skype.
I have screamed worship songs on rolling hills in Europe.
I have bathed, fished out dinner and done my laundry all from one pond.
I have gone to a random Romanian opera and a South African rugby game.

I have seen children carrying lollipops and others carrying AK47s.
I have had a rat crawl up my leg and spider in my ear.
I have missed births, weddings, birthdays and anniversaries… but witnessed so much more.
I have eaten more bugs and just about turned vegetarian millions of times.
I have blacked out from the heat and near frostbite from the freeze.
I have learned how to distinguish what type of bug is crawling on me without looking.
I have filled up multiple journals and contemplated writing a book.
I have written a song and memorized so many others.
I have screamed decelerations from rooftops and whispered prayers in cellars.
I have cooked meals over fire because there is no other option.
I have lived out of my tent and shampooed my hair in the rain.
It has been written on my heart that I have been made for another world.
I have comprehended that I truly have the ability to change the world.
Ruth's description barely scratches the surface, but you get the idea. Going on the World Race changes you from the inside out. You will never be the same again. There is adventure inside of everyone just waiting to be ignited.
What are you waiting for?
January 2014 Routes are now open!
