A small story..
The day before Thanksgiving, my team and I got to tag along with our ministry host Tony. He had a few errands to run, and we had as a team wanted to have alone time together. We went to the mall and spent a couple hours before Tony was to pick us up again. He picked us up and as we are driving in the car he was telling us stories about the kids he meets and helps get off the streets. We drove past one of the locations where he first started at when he got here 5 years ago
.
One of the questions he likes to asks the kids are, “What do you want to be when you’re older?” Many just want to be what there parents are. To them their parents are the limit. Their parents are just street workers, garbage pickers, maybe a construction worker. These kids don’t realize and people aren’t speaking life into them telling them that the Sky is the limit! That they could be whatver they want as long as they put the time in to learn and go for it.
Tony took in one of the kids named Herman. He struggles a lot with sniffing paint thinner and just being on the street. He is a great kid and since we have been here he has been amazing. When Tony first met Herman he asked him that question of what he wants to be when he is older. Tony told us that Herman stared at him for about 30 seconds and said what?! So he asked him again, and Herman answered, “ no one has ever asked me that before.”
After he told us this story, I sat there and pondered and I can’t count on my hands how many times I have been asked that. Ever since I was little that is the most common question asked. In a question that seems so small, but has great depth to it. I look back and am just so blessed to have lived the life I have and am living. These kids don’t desire materialistic items, no designer clothes, no electronics, no car, all they want is someone that loves them and cares for them. If we give them our heart, than they give us theirs. That’s all they desire. A love that no one has really given them. It breaks my heart to see that. These kids have so much potential to do great things. They have the power, but no one is empowering them.
Tony is such a Father to these kids. He loves them so much and would do anything for them. He is a great representation of Jesus. Loves with a deep passion, and a desire to see people be set free from things holding them down.
I am enjoying life here in Honduras. The people are genuine and just down to earth. I am excited to be learning from these kids everyday.
I am a Father to the fatherless… Everyday I realize the meaning of that and am definitely walking it out.
Thank you for standing with me and praying with me.
If you go to my website www.andrewingrassia.com I uploaded pictures of Guatemala.

Andrew
