Reciprocation….what does this mean? Typically we would think of it as a motion, much like that of a reciprocation saw that cuts with a "back-and -forth" motion, or a giving and taking of something. This morning at church I discovered that there is something else that needs to be added to this equation…It needs to be mutual. Our relationship with Christ should be a mutual reciprocation, or giving of love to each other! We cannot just sit there and expect God to keep giving us the best of His love without giving him the best of our love at the same time. When we don't give God our love in return, it stops the reciprocation, not to say that God stops loving us, but we lose connection with Him. John 3:16 says, "For God so LOVED the world…" God loves us and in order to have a true relationship with Him, we need to return our love to Him and keep that love relationship alive. When we stop loving, and praising and worshipping God that love relationship dies. Much like a relationship between a husband and wife…when mutual love for each other gets out of reciprocation, things get rough and often lead to divorce.
Often times we find ourselves reciprocating with things that are not of God…we reciprocate with darkness. John 19 says, " Light has come into the world…BUT…people LOVED darkness instead of the light because their deeds were evil." What is the outcome of reciprocating with darkness? A never ending cycle of dissatisfaction, emptiness, and failure. If we keep feeding the darkness…it keeps giving. Why do we choose to take this route instead of following God? It would be so much more satisfying to follow the one who loves us unconditionally, the one who RETURNS love even when we don't deserve it. Darkness has no love for us! It uses us, abuses us, hurts us and fails us every time! We are all sinners, but in the end it is a choice to reciprocate with Christ or the darkness. I have had more than my share of following darkness and let me tell you….its a dead end road. Just when you think you've found something that can fill you and satisfy you it will only leave you emptier . If you are on this road today, don't WASTE your time, go to the ONLY one who can truly satisfy you and that loves you unconditionally….Jesus. Let go of the things of this world that pull you down. Love Jesus and he will return his love to you!
I pray that God speaks to you through this writing! If you like what you've read please subscribe to my blog. I plan on continuing to share what I learned at church every Sunday with you all.
