If God spoke would you listen? God speaks will you listen?
I don’t even know where to start on this blog. The past 2 weeks have been an extraordinary experience. Finally I am walking as if Christ truly lives in me, and as if the kingdom of heaven has come down to earth; because it has.
On December 29th 2009 I responded to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit spoke to me, and told me to go home and do something new with my life. It wasn't audible, it was in my heart, and inside I knew it was time for something new! That voice inside of me that had been saying I am going to use you, you will serve me someday, you are my son, I have plans for you, there is more for you, quit running, quit doing this on your own. On that night halfway to a party I felt like I needed to go home and take communion to start off the new year. Rather than deny that voice again I decided to go home. At midnight with pita bread and orange juice and having googled the communion scriptures, I took communion with God and promised him my life in 2010.
Fast forward to 2012. Nearly 3 years of walking with, and believing in Christ and his Spirit is speaking again. Through the ups and downs, the highs and lows of the last 3 years I have heard God speak, but never this clearly. Daily I am receiving words, images, and aches in my body for myself and others. Holy Spirit speaks in a few different ways, words can be spoken directly, images, or you can receive feelings in your body for people around you that God wants to heal.
For those of you who may not know, the Holy Spirit is God. God is 3 in 1 or what is known in Christian circles as the “trinity”. God the Father, God the Son(Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit(the spirit of God). The Holy Spirit is known as the comforter, and Holy Spirit speaks directly to us in various ways. In John 14:17 the Holy Spirit is known as the spirit of Truth, and Holy Spirit speaks truth.
If you don’t believe me, we’ll do an exercise in hearing God:
Close your eyes(it’ll help block distractions), then pray and ask God to speak. It doesn’t have to be a long intense prayer, just say something like “Jesus, I know you speak, Holy Spirit speak to me”. Ask Him to speak to you through words or an image, and then write down what the spirit says. The bible says we only prophesy in part, so when you receive something whatever it is, write or draw it and then as you think you’ll begin to get more. God made us in his image so he speaks to us through us. Ironic right? So try it right quick, and write down whatever you feel or are thinking about. At the end read it in its entirety and get ready, if you’ve never heard God before he is going to rock your world 🙂 If you feel inclined post your comments below.
Do you feel that sense of peace? Even if you didn’t do the exercise and ask God to speak to you I still think you feel peace while reading this blog. How do I know? Cause I prayed for everyone reading this to feel the peace of God, and because we can’t pray without something happening I believe God is giving you peace! Amazing right? Sorry, I trapped you! But isn’t it amazing?! God loves you so much, you’re a child of his and he made you in his image! Jesus loves you so much. If you don’t believe me, ask him, he’ll tell you how much you mean to him!
If I sound like a crazy man, cool, I totally am. I am crazy in love with God and I’m so wrecked after these last 2 weeks any other response by me would be even more crazy. The Holy Spirit has come into my life and completely changed my view of the world, others, and myself. I’ve discovered who I am in Christ and since God gives me identity I don’t need to worry about labels others give me, the harsh things they say, I’m free! I’m soooo dead to myself, and sooooo done living a powerless life as a Christian when Jesus called us to be so much more! I’m no longer living by a prayer that’ll get me to heaven but by a life that brings the kingdom of heaven to earth!
So what does this have to do we the “Holy Spirit throwdown?” Everything! Just as he’s been throwing down in the last 2 weeks of my life I know he will continue to do so for the rest of my life. I’m running this race and there is no turning back! Daily I lay hands on people that are hurt physically and spiritually and I watch as God heals there body and restores their heart. As crazy as that may sound to you, it has become completely normal to me now. How can it not be? I believe, and because I believe God heals. The bible says he will! So even if you don’t believe that I sure do cause he said he will and the bibles says he does. If you don’t believe me just open up Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John. Jesus healed a whole grip of folks! And because Christ lives in me(John 14) I walk in the belief that I will do greater things than Jesus did because he said I would (John 14:12). Heresy? Nah man, I’m no heretic, I’m a believer!
John 14:12:
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.”
