I can’t believe month one has already gone by. I wish it didn’t fly by that quickly but I am overall glad at the work we did and the progress we made with our first contact.
Playing with the kids and showing them love that they rarely get, building items that they needed such as bookshelves and coatracks, painting the interior and exterior of the compound and just building new relationships. Our first month was a success in the areas we accomplished. I am very thankful to everyone who supported me and helped me get to where I am now. It is a huge blessing that I can just give up everything and help out those in need. I would have never thought of doing something like this at all, but when God puts something in your heart you got to just act on it and go for it! It’s the greatest feeling in the world when you are in the will of the Father.

So here we are now 15 minutes outside of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. It was a 14-hour bus ride from Guatemala City, Guatemala to Tegucigalpa, Honduras. We rode on a nice charter bus called Tica-Bus. I slept some, read a book, socialized with my squad and watched a few movies. It was a good but tiring travel day. When we arrived we were told that Honduras is the most dangerous country in the world. Well that was a nice intro to us entering the country. Even though it’s called that, I feel safe and not once has my safety felt questionable at times.
We are staying at a place called Zion’s gate, and our contact’s name in Tony Deien. He is an amazing man with a big heart. He has been in Honduras for 5 years and has started this ministry for 2 years. He helps young kids get off the street and off drugs. Most of the kids here are addicted to sniffing paint thinner and they have most likely tried every drug that’s available to them.

It’s sad to see a country that doesn’t take care of their next generation. The kids that Tony has taken in are amazing. They have such big hearts and have a great destiny ahead of them. They do still struggle from time to time with wanting to go back to their old ways. Tony is strict with them, but it’s what they need and it provides so much love to them that they never get. Sowing into these kids lives has been effective non the less.

My team is with another team this month and we are doing a summer camp in the morning with kids from around the neighborhood. There are about 70-80 kids that come, and we do games, crafts and teach them English and songs. The kid’s ages range from 5-13. I am with the 5-7 years, and let me tell you they are handful. On our first
day they were angels. The second day they were little devils. Then on the 3rd day we figured to keep them in the room and do games and English in there. That was the right thing to do. Even though they can be wild at times, I love these kids and the next 3 weeks are going to be awesome with them. I know that they’re desiring attention because most don’t receive it at home.

Here is to an amazing month!
Watch out for my next blog. It'll be all pictures. WE are overloading the Internet here at the mall.

Love you all!
In His Name.
