I have the pleasure of receiving prayer requests via Facebook etc. and praying for numerous people with various problems and afflictions. The requests range from parents asking God to reveal Himself to their children and bring them home to people dying of sickness such as cancer etc. I’ll always pray through messages, on the phone, or through an email, but if I have the chance to I try to pray for people in person.
I received a Facebook message from a friend in Boise who requested that I pray for a friend of hers. She was a lady who was in her mid 40s and had been battling cancer back and forth for a while. I prayed for the lady a few times through messages on facebook and received positive updates from my friend about this womans health. There were a few times she had battled back and God had begin healing her in various ways. I stopped in Boise for a few days back in December of 2012, a few days before Christmas. One of the first things I did when I got to town was meeting up with my friend to visit and pray for this lady.
As we got to this womans house we were greeted by one of her amazing daughters who graciously thanked us for coming. We entered the womans bedroom and she was laying there in bed, extremely skinny, and very weak. The woman could barely move and talk, and she was covered in blankets, her head was supported by a neck pillow. Her face and eyes beamed with light and she was very excited to see us. My friend and I sat down and begin talking with her about everything that was going on. The treatments had been rough on her, and they were trying something new hoping for some success. The doctors had been amazed by how far she’d made it to this point but her liver was shutting down as were a few of her other organs, she needed a miracle.
My friend who is a woman full of faith had been praying for this gal for sometime now and had seen God do the impossible in her life already. She as well as I was ready to see this cancer crushed in the name of Jesus. It was time to pray to our Father and believe Him for a miracle. This womans eldest daughter went and got her boyfriend, her youngest sister, and their father. We gathered around this beautiful woman in her bed and formed a circle, I held her hand, and my friend had her hand on this womans legs. We turned on a worship song and soaked in Gods presence for a few minutes, and then I started us off in prayer. We prayed back and forth, around the circle even. We lifted this woman and this sickness up to our Father and asked Him to take away every bit of sickness, every bit of pain, and to completely heal and restore her body. We spoke to her failing organs and commanded them to be whole and new, we spoke to every cell in her body and commanded them to come into alignment with Gods perfect will and alignment.
There was a beautiful, sweet, and peaceful presence of God in the room. As were we waiting in silence, God showed me an image of this woman in a beautiful green field of grass with trees behind her. She was in a spotless white dress, with a long white sash/scarf that was draped over each of her arms that was held out and it covered over her neck extending in both directions. The wind lightly blew in her hair, and she was dancing with the sun shining brightly on her face. I spoke up and said “So I don’t know if you like to dance, but God just showed me this image” and as I begin to describe what I had seen this woman begin to squeeze my hand and smile. We all stood there in silence soaking in the peaceful presence of God that filled that room. I had tears running down my face, and as I looked around the room, her children did too.
She thanked us for coming, and said we were like angels God had sent to encourage her and lift her up. She was in great spirits, and as I left, I fully believed God would heal and restore her. Her teenage children thanked us for coming once again, and my friend and I left talking about how amazing the presence of God was in that room. We were full of peace, fully expectant of a complete recovery for her.
Today I received a message from my friend in Boise, she informed me that 2 days ago this wonderful woman “passed into heaven”. I was at a loss. God that wasn't supposed to happen! She informed me a few days ago that things weren’t looking great, but I prayed and fully believed that God would pull through. Much like anyone, I asked God “why?” I wasn’t so much angry as I was frustrated that He didn't heal her. God in his amazing sovereignty simply told me that "I wanted her to come home." There are no doubts in my mind that this woman is in heaven right now dancing in that beautiful green field with trees in the background. She’s in a beautiful white dress dancing with the brightness of the Son shining on her face, the wind is lightly blowing her hair.
Tonight I’ve laughed and cried. I’ve cried because I don’t want her family to lose faith in God and get bitter over their loss. I am encouraged and know that God is a healer, and that His word reminds us that death has no sting. That even in this I see His goodness shine through. I laugh because she’s in a better place now, she’s passed on into victory, and she is seated in heavenly places with her Father. I also laugh because in the Christian life, death is a win, always. Though our bodies wear out and fade, we have the promise of eternal life in Christ Jesus. Today I remember a woman who lived her life in faith, faith in the One who holds the world in His hands, faith in the goodness of her King.
Thank you God for a life lived well, a race worthy of a prize. God our faith in You will never fade, and where the enemy thinks he can win, he can’t, because he’s already lost the war. You said it is finished, and it is. Daddy I thank you that you are an amazing Father, that you know what is best. And Daddy I ask you to comfort and bring your peace to this womans family, allow them to grow in you stronger through all of this. Swoop in and drench them in love where the enemy tries to steal and destroy, I pray you’d encourage and uplift them. Abba, Father, we love you. And we’ll continue to fight the good fight of faith no matter what, because in your son Jesus Christ, death is a win. Amen.
I will NEVER stop praying in faith and believing God for the miraculous. I will see cancer crushed in the lives of people soon enough. This isn't a failure, God remains faithful. He says that we'll lay hands on the sick and watch them recover, amen, I believe. If you are sick and need healed I will pray fully believing God will heal you. God is a healer(period) Its who He is, and I will see the lame walk, the blind see, the dead raised, and cancer and other diseases leave in Jesus name. I will never quit praying for the sick.
