Preach the Word! Be ready in-season and out of season. 2 Timothy 4:2.
When our contacts set aside time for us to preach they usually tell us to give about 45 minutes to about an hour.On a Wednesday night service one of the girls on the team Alyssa gave the message. It was really good, but the only problem was it only lasted 30 minutes. They like to have the whole allotted time filled up. They don’t end early even if we do.
The Pastor looked at us and asked if any of the “Americans” have anything to add.Well we all looked at each other, and Alyssa yelled out we can sing a song!
We definitely didn’t want to do that. So we all walk up to the front and I turned to my friend Chrissy and said I am going to find a word.
We sang one song, and Chrissy mouths to me “Do you have anything yet?”
Still nothing, so we sing another song. After that song was done, Chrissy blurted out Andrew has a word!
I didn’t have one yet. But we didn’t want to keep singing so I was like Yeah I have a word. I walk to the podium and the Holy Spirit hits me. Says read the beatitudes in Matthew 5. It was perfect as I have notes in my journal on it. So I read through each beatitude and I don’t even look at my notes. I started speaking on each one and start sharing on how Jesus spoke this as a model lifestyle of how we should live.
As I start speaking, the Holy Spirit just over takes me and I don’t remember anything I said. It’s what we like to call Holy Spirit vomit. Where the Holy Spirit takes over and it’s like you just vomit words out that he is speaking through you.
I spoke for the remainder 30 minutes and filled up the time.
It was awesome to see the Holy Spirit move that way through me.
Gotta be ready In season and Out of season!
