Its been nearly a week since we’ve been back on American soil. Its been a rough week with emotions and feeling alone all the time, plus coming back during the holidays has been awkward because people feel obligated to ask about your trip. But I wanted to make a post about what I’m missing, but also the most thankful for from the World Race. And that is COMMUNITY.
Community is the thing that everyone says is the hardest about the Race, and while that was sometimes true, it is also the most rewarding. Were there moments I wanted to have my own room, or just some alone time? yeah, but in the end community is what I miss the most. I miss sharing a room with 1 or more people, of living in a small space with 10 others and having someone to talk to that knows how you’re feeling or going through the same things.
When I left for the Race I asked the Lord for a good community, for life long friends that become family and people that share the same passion for Him. And He gave me that and more. Some of my best friends have come from the Race and he healed the wounds that I had from past communities. So that’s what I’m most thankful for from the Race. The people he placed around me and the group I was allowed to be a part of.
If you’re leaving for the Race, or currently on it, or on your own journey for community I encourage you to press into them. Press in through the hard times, be open and vulnerable with them. Find those people who become your people, that have your back and tell you the hard truths.
To my S Squad family, thank you all for loving me well, for challenging me, for the laugh and all the memories and I can’t wait to see you all at PSL.
Ty
