If you know me then you know I have always had a dream of being a doctor or at least in the medical field of some kind. Due to some life events and medical things I had to drop out of school and havent gone back YET. I had dreams of being a medical missions physician and opening clinics and all of that good stuff, on Friday I got to have that dream come true…kinda.

Our church hosted a health screening clinic for the first time, we did height and weight measurements, determined peoples B.M.Is, took their blood pressure and heart rate and checked their blood glucose levels. After all of this Andrew who is nurse worked with the nurse helping host the clinic to give people a general health summary. I got to take peoples heart rate and blood pressure all day.

Now you may be thinking that this doesnt seem very significant but for some of these people that was possibly the only time they’ve been able to have something like that done. Everyone who came was super thankful for the opportunity and kept thanking us and our pastor for having the event. We had 105 people come to it and of those three of them needed to see a doctor due to extremely high blood pressure, others found out they were diabetic or close to it and we got to give some advice of just how to be healthier. Today we got an update that those three who went to the doctor are now admitted to the hospital and were at high risk of having a heart attack or stroke. So something that may seem so trivial wound up having a massive impact on those that came and potentially saved lives. So for a small amount of time I got to kinda experience my dreams of doing medical missions and just how big of an impact that can have.
