Friends!
Month 4 of my Journey has already started and my Squad is in India! We arrived a week ago and I finally have had some time/wifi to upload my recap video and write this blog.
For the month that we were in Sri Lanka, the men separated from the women for MANistry. We stayed in Arugam Bay on the east side of the Island and invested in the local body while also building relationships with locals and tourists. I made friends with some of the coolest people and will always cherish my time there.
There was a man that I met named Tobi who was a cook at a restaurant on the main street in the town. He was right around my age and he was the man of his entire house (mother, siblings, cousins, nephews, nieces, etc.). Tobi practically became a best friend to all of the men in my squad and we went to his restaurant every day to eat his amazing food, play cards, and share the love.
I also met a man who owned a convenient store close to the hostel my team stayed in. We became good friends after a couple of days and he showed me some of the stuff he was doing to enhance his community, such as providing trash cans for every house and restaurant and keeping the beach clean all year round. The last day that I was in Arugam Bay, I was able to teach him how to swim because he had never done it before! Some very cool conversations about God took place as well. What a great opportunity!
We also played soccer almost every day, surfed every other day, and grew closer together as a unit of men in the body of Christ. Most importantly, God showed me a deeper meaning of his Glory and how every day of my life is meant for it. Enjoy the video!
