Happy Thursday! Every Thursday while I’m on the Race, I want to share something that the Lord is speaking to me as part of my Thoughtful Thursday series. Today, on my first Thoughtful Thursday of the year, I want to share a simple lesson I learned at Coffs Harbor:

One day last week, my team and I were invited to a young adult hangout at the beach in the evening. As soon as we arrived, I felt like retreating from everyone and I was drawn to a pier that went out over the bay water. Once I got to the end of the pier, I sat down and began playing some music on my phone. A couple of minutes later, the Lord had me stop playing my music and asked me a question as I looked out at the lighthouse, bay light, and dock lights. The lighthouse was periodically flashing in multiple directions as it spun clockwise, the bay light blinked on and off directly towards the beach, and the dock lights dimly shined consistently over the boats parked in the harbor. God’s question was, “which light is more effective?” After thinking about it and listening for God to answer, I sensed him saying that they all serve their own purpose and make equal impact/are of equal importance in their role for the same goal. That goal is to guide people in the right direction, to shine a light to people in different areas of the water and land for them to see. Without any of the many lights I observed, certain people and certain areas cannot be covered and shown the light.

This applies to all believers in whatever roles/places we find ourselves in. As you go about your day and your week, I pray that you are encouraged to go out and be the light that you are and that is necessary for God’s full purpose to be accomplished. Without you, we’ll miss a spot!

With Love,

Tyler
