The team and I were getting ready to load our vans and head to our first ministry contact, when Trevor asked me if I would like to check my support account on his computer before we left. Little did I know, this would change my day!

We are asked to raise $13,800 for the World Race. When I checked my account, there was $13,000 in it! We’re almost there! I couldn’t believe it! I was shocked! It’s happening! Everything about God providing financially for the race is happening! As soon as I saw my account, I let those around me know and the celebration began. We were laughing with excitement, hugging, jumping, running in circles, and holding back tears. I can’t thank you all enough for the prayers and financial support you have given me. I wouldn’t be here doing what we’re doing without your blessings! Truly, I thank you!

When I regained my composure I went to God’s word in search of a verse that He may have for me while I was overjoyed. I opened my Bible up to Nehemiah 8:10 and these were the words that God had for me, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our LORD. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

In my walk with Christ, I often ask “are we okay now?…how about now?” You see, too many times I feel like I’m doing something wrong or that I should be grieving all of the time because I am a Christian. Well God didn’t want me to grieve on this day. He gave me a huge blessing and then expected me to enjoy it! What a God! But even after this, God still had more blessings to provide…

When we arrived at our ministry sight, we unpacked our things then had a feast with our ministry contacts and listened as they told us what we were going to be doing with the rest of our time here. The team was anxious. I was nervous. I have been praying that I would be able to complete anything that was asked of me….this was it. Maybe you’ll be as excited as I am!

Our ministry on campus is simply maintenance work. The first task was to paint a hallway and some bathrooms. I had this very same job for four years in college! For our ministry off campus, we will be meeting the needs of the homeless as well as the elderly in the area. I recently finished an internship in which I did the exact same things that I will be doing here! I also graduated from college with a degree in social work. I have been studying the homeless and the elderly, for about 2 1/2 years! There’s more…

I love soccer. I’ve been playing since I was little. Believe it or not, we are leading a beach ministry in which we will be playing beach soccer! Ministry through playing soccer! Trevor and I will be leading worship while we are here too! And there will be opportunities to preach on Sundays!

God has been preparing me for this month of ministry all of my life. Since the days when I was a little kid kicking a ball around the yard, through my years in college. He’s using everything I have to offer. He says “I want it all! Everything you have. Everything you are!” What a day! The finances. The celebration. The joy. The ministries. This is what our God did for me on this day!
