Our team has started reading the Bible together from the beginning. After seeing the beauty of New Zealand, I was anxious to read about the garden of Eden. So I paid a lot more attention to what happened there. It’s amazing. God was waiting to show me something new.
When God told Adam not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, He knew that if he did, he would then know right from wrong and of course good from evil. I take this to mean that when one knows good from evil, one has lost their innocence. Now one has a decision to make. And a wrong decision could lead to a consequence. Could God have known this? Is this why God gave such a command? I believe so. Adam was childlike before he ate the fruit; innocent and full of wonder.
Lately God has been revealing to me, that His children are innocent indeed. And this innocence has been offered to us twice. First in the garden of Eden, and now through the blood of Jesus Christ. So I’ve been praying a lot recently, that God would renew our sense of innocence in Him. That He will open our eyes so that we may see His glory through eyes like that of a child. Completely captivated and full of awe. Since after all, we are children of God?
